Political Leanings
This is taken from a response I made in an Autism-related subreddit on Reddit.
When I was too busy with life to think about politics, I used to think I was 'centrist' because I didn't seem to be on the same page as either of our political parties here in the United States.
Now that I am much, much older and I've had to deal with a family member going full tilt Tea Party far right fascist and bigoted friends and partners, I've been constantly learning more and more about political theory, sociology, etc.
Now before I explain my political leanings, I'd like to make sure I give the qualifier; My political leanings are my ideal. I will be the first to admit that what I find as the most ideal political systems I know of are not practical due to the limitations of humans. In a perfect world everyone is honest, everyone does what is best for their community. We don't live in a perfect world.
Robert A. Heinlein, a staunch Libertarian used to say he was a "Rational Anarchist", and while I'm fairly far from a Libertarian, I agree with the sentiment. A rational anarchist holds the ideals that everyone should self manage, but understands that in the real world that's just not practical.
I've since concluded that I'm further left than both our political parties. I myself align more with Anarcho-Synadclistic beliefs. In Monty Python terms, I'm the peasant Dennis that King Arthur runs into in Holy Grail.
When it comes to authoritarianism to liberalism, I'm as far to the liberal side as you can go. I'm completely anti-authoritarian. I've felt this way all my life. People who display the responsibility to self-manage should be allowed to do so.
When it comes to Right to Left, or Conservative/Regressive to Progressive I'm as far to the Progressive Left side as you can go. I'm able to see the value of current and past social systems, but to me their flaws are glaringly obvious. I feel that there is no reason to stop searching and trying better systems until the world is as perfect as it can be for everyone.
Anyone that is so invested in a current system that they want to keep them as it is does so because it gives them an advantage over other people or they can only see how it benefits them and not how it hurts other people.
To me, inequality, kicking down, and social class domination is the greatest of sins.
